Why should I get involved?

Sponsor an Elmer elephant today!

Your organisation can be a part of and support a major and highly visible event in Christchurch and surrounding districts in the summer of 2023 / 2024. The trail will provide 12 weeks of free, family-friendly entertainment for locals and visitors alike – encouraging people to explore, discover new places and enjoy the city.

The Elmer sculptures will be displayed on the streets for 12 weeks, and by getting involved now you can benefit from pre-trail promotion giving you months of exposure; for example, when you select your design, you can start to work alongside your artist, you can engage with your employees and develop a plan to activate your sponsorship when the trail is live and at the farewell event and auction.

Be part of a truly amazing event

Being a sponsor provides a creative opportunity to talk to new audiences and also talk to your existing audience in a new way – outside the parameters of corporate brand guidelines. There will be a wealth of content opportunities, for example, each sculpture has at least five stories to tell:

Five stories to tell

The sponsor – why you are supporting the trail?

The artist – who are they – why have they got involved?

The sculpture design inspiration – what is the design – does it tell a story?

The location – where is the sculpture?

The charity – fundraising and/or artist/sponsor connections with the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust.

Business Benefits

The trail gives sponsors the opportunity to network with other businesses (including businesses outside their core industry), through the Art Selection Event, Sponsor Workshop, VIP Preview and Auction, as well as through other sponsor activations including the sponsor challenge event.

Net-walking

At previous city art trails, many sponsors have used their sculpture and the trail as their own net-walking opportunity to meet clients, see the sculpture and walk a part of the trail. (This was particularly the case as businesses returned to the office and looked for opportunities to meet outside of traditional meetings).

Employee Engagement

It’s a fun way for your team to be part of a major event.

Sponsor employee engagement examples include:

  • Opportunities for staff to volunteer including handing out trail maps, helping at the farewell event and auction
  • Opportunities for staff fundraising – get sponsored to walk or run around trail
  • Team building opportunities e.g team selfie challenge
  • Help to bring people back to the office
  • Bring kids to work day – visit the office in the morning and visit the trail in the afternoon.

Support Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust

Sponsors are supporting their important work. All money raised from this art trail will be used to build a new campus for the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust. Currently, their services are in demand more than ever and their facilities and residential accommodation options are no longer fit for purpose. Your support for Elmer’s Ōtautahi Art Trail will help build their new campus, where all of their services will be delivered from the same place, and where they can help more people affected by a traumatic brain injury, spinal or other complex injury or disability.
